Commenting on the controversy, Oseni criticized the Senate, claiming it serves the interests of President Tinubu rather than the people.

He said, “They passed the law to make electronic transmission mandatory. When the Senate president is loyal to the President instead of representing Nigerians, it undermines effective representation. Let’s call a spade a spade. The Senate doesn’t represent us; it serves the President’s interest. This is a democracy, not an authoritarian or military regime.”

Abati, however, offered a different perspective, noting that party loyalty is common in democracies.

He said, “Even in the United States, which isn’t a parliamentary system, lawmakers stick with their party. The opposition still has a voice, but what do you expect Senate President Akpabio to do? Go against his own party or the president of the ruling party he belongs to?”

Describing politics as a reciprocal process, Wike stressed that the era of empty promises was over:

“Leaders must demonstrate their commitment to delivering good governance. You cannot make promises during elections and vanish afterward without fulfilling them. We asked you to support Tinubu, starting with the area council elections. On February 21, you came through, delivering 133 of the 135 polling units in the council for Tinubu. What more can we say but thank you? You have done your part; we will now do ours. Abaji people have spoken, and they spoke decisively,” he said.
