Egbin Power Plc Empowers Local Students With Scholarships To Foster Academic Excellence And SDG Achievement
In a dedicated effort to promote academic excellence and contribute to the realization of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Egbin Power Plc has granted scholarships to students hailing from its host communities.
During the eighth edition of their annual scholarship program, Egbin Power reaffirmed its commitment to education, aligning with SDG 4, which strives for inclusive, equitable quality education and lifelong learning opportunities.
The beneficiaries, carefully selected from public schools in the Egbin, Ijede, and Ipakan host communities, received comprehensive scholarship packages covering tuition fees, textbooks, school uniforms, and various educational materials.
The 2023 program involved a rigorous selection process, including verification, pre-testing, boot camp, and final selection stages conducted independently. Successful candidates were subsequently admitted on scholarships to Powerfield Group of Schools, owned by Egbin Power Plc.
Mokhtar Bounour, the Chief Executive Officer of Egbin Power Plc, emphasized the pivotal role of education in societal transformation, socio-economic growth, and human capital development. The company is committed to advancing these aspects through its various initiatives.
Bounour underscored that education serves as the foundation for progress and the cultivation of future leaders, essential for building prosperous societies. He stated, “At Egbin Power, we recognize the significance of quality education, which is why we persist in providing scholarships in our host communities, aligning with SDG 4’s goal of ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education and promoting lifelong learning opportunities for all.”
One of the scholarship recipients, Abimbola Akinbiyi, expressed her joy and gratitude to Egbin Power Plc for instigating the scholarship program, motivating students to excel in their education.
Folahanmi Adesina, the Principal of Powerfields Group of Schools (College), commended Egbin Power Plc for identifying and nurturing talents within the community through this scholarship platform.
Likewise, Olufunke Winful, the Head Teacher of Powerfield Group of Schools (Elementary), lauded Egbin for investing in the students’ future, bringing smiles to the faces of both teachers and parents.
