Terror Clouds Gather Over Yorubaland: Ibadan Chiefs Urge Swift Action.
According to Nivo News, prominent leaders and stakeholders in Ibadanland have raised fresh concerns over the growing infiltration of bandits and terrorists into the Southwest, urging immediate intervention from state governors, the Federal Government, and security agencies.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
In a joint statement issued by the President of Ibadan Mogajis, Mogaji Asimiyu Ariori, and the Coordinator of the Ibadan Compound Peace Initiatives (ICPI), Mogaji Dr. Nurudeen Akinade, the leaders warned that recent killings of Yoruba people and other residents in parts of Kwara State should be seen as a clear danger signal. The statement was further endorsed by the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII), traditional rulers, Baales, and other influential figures across Ibadanland.
The stakeholders expressed deep worry that the resurgence of violent attacks in Kwara may foreshadow wider security threats in Yorubaland if left unchecked. They stressed that all levels of government must act swiftly to forestall further deterioration.
“If bandits can kill Yoruba people in parts of Kwara, it means the entire Southwest is under threat,” the statement read. They called on monarchs, traditional chiefs, Mogajis, Baales, market leaders, political actors, and lawmakers across the six Southwest states to take proactive steps against rising criminality.
Highlighting Ibadan’s vast land area and its proximity to Kwara, the leaders cautioned that displaced criminals could easily seek refuge within the city’s forests and villages if security is not tightened. They further urged the strengthening of intelligence gathering, internal vigilance, and grassroots security measures to detect and expel criminal elements.
The leaders emphasized that silence would only worsen the danger, stressing that citizens must remain alert and raise alarms whenever threats are observed. They also reassured that under the Ibadan Compound Peace Initiatives, discreet intelligence collaborations with formal security agencies are ongoing to safeguard the region.

Overwhelming Mandate: Soludo Secures Second Term, Hails Unprecedented Voter Support
Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, the re-elected Governor of Anambra State, has expressed profound gratitude to the people of the state, describing his renewed mandate as both a “victory” and a “historic moment” for Anambra.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
According to Nivo News, Soludo made the remarks in Awka on Sunday, shortly after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officially declared him the winner of the 2025 governorship election, securing a second term alongside his deputy, Dr. Onyeka Ibezim.
Speaking to supporters, the governor highlighted the overwhelming confidence the electorate has placed in his administration. He contrasted this year’s election with his first victory in 2021, noting that voter turnout has significantly increased since then.
He said, “Four years ago, you spoke and gave us your mandate. Anambra experimented with BVAS for the first time, and the turnout was extremely low. You elected us with 112,000 votes. This time, you have spoken loudly. About 22 percent of registered voters participated, breaking the 20 percent glass ceiling.”
Soludo further emphasized that his re-election places him among a select few governors in Anambra to have secured a second term since 1999. He noted that the scale of voter support in the 2025 election was unprecedented, with 73 percent of votes cast in his favor, surpassing previous records of 31 percent in 2010 and 56 percent in 2017.
“This is the strongest endorsement any governor has received in the history of Anambra,” he said, acknowledging the solidarity and support of the people.
The governor assured residents that his administration would accelerate development projects across the state, promising that the next four years would bring even greater progress. “We applied for this job. You employed us four years ago. What I can say, as we stated throughout the campaign, is that you have not seen anything yet. With this trust, in partnership with you, over the next four years we can say loudly that we ain’t seen nothing yet,” he stated.

A statement released on the Presidency’s official account on Sunday highlighted that over 13,000 terrorists were neutralized in the past year, while approximately 124,000 insurgents and their dependents voluntarily surrendered to authorities amid ongoing security operations.
The statement added that more than 2.1 million internally displaced persons have returned to their communities, with reconstruction efforts actively underway in regions previously affected by insurgency.
The Federal Government has also launched a Resettlement Scheme for Persons Impacted by Conflict, aimed at rebuilding communities, facilitating reintegration, and restoring livelihoods for displaced households.
“Since 2023, the Federal Government, through enhanced inter-agency collaboration, has relentlessly pursued, apprehended, eliminated, or successfully prosecuted terrorists and insurgents, particularly those responsible for some of the most egregious attacks on Nigerian soil,” the statement read.
The Presidency reported that over 124 terrorists have been convicted since 2024, including key figures in violent extremist networks. High-profile suspects, such as members of Ansaru, those implicated in the 2022 Owo Church bombing, and individuals linked to reprisal attacks in Yelwata, Benue, are currently facing trial in various courts.
The government emphasized that joint security task forces, permanent border patrols, victim compensation, and intelligence collaboration with international partners are among the ongoing measures to protect lives and uphold national sovereignty.
