A tragic road accident claimed one life and left four others injured on Saturday along the Ihiala-Owerri Road in Anambra State. According to eyewitness accounts gathered by Nivo News, the trailer was reportedly speeding when the driver lost control and rammed into five other vehicles. The impact caused severe damage, with one victim, identified as the driver of the Lexus SUV, confirmed dead at the scene. His remains have since been deposited at a hospital morgue.

Confirming the development, the Anambra State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Bridget Asekhauno, disclosed that a total of eight male occupants were involved in the crash. While four sustained injuries, three others escaped unhurt. The injured were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for medical care.

Asekhauno expressed condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for the quick recovery of the survivors. She also emphasized the need for motorists to practice defensive driving and comply strictly with traffic regulations.

“We urge all drivers to adhere to speed limits and remain focused behind the wheel. Our rescue team responded promptly to evacuate the victims and is currently working to clear the scene for free traffic flow,” she noted.

The FRSC further appealed to road users to be cautious and patient, especially on highways, while encouraging witnesses to report emergencies promptly via its toll-free number, 122.
