National Security Adviser Delivers 128 Freed Kidnap Victims To Zamfara Government
The Office of the National Security Adviser has handed over 128 kidnap victims rescued from bandits’ hideouts in Kaura Namoda Local Government Area of Zamfara State to the state government. Reports monitored by Nivo News indicate that the National Coordinator of the National Counter-Terrorism Centre, Maj. Gen. Adamu Laka, made the disclosure in Abuja on Tuesday while presenting the victims to the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
According to Laka, the victims were freed in two separate security operations earlier this month. The first rescue on August 14 involved 42 people, including 14 men, 27 women and a toddler, while the second, conducted on August 19, secured the release of 88 persons made up of 34 men and 54 women.
He revealed that not all the abductees survived captivity, noting that one child in the second group died from illness caused by extreme fatigue. Laka also confirmed that one woman gave birth prematurely shortly after being freed, and the baby is currently under medical care.
Since their rescue, the victims have been under the protection of the Office of the National Security Adviser, where they received comprehensive medical attention, psychological support and rehabilitation. Laka said they are now being handed over to the Zamfara State Government to facilitate reintegration with their families and communities.
The transfer comes as security forces intensify operations against armed groups in Zamfara, one of the epicentres of banditry and mass abductions in Nigeria’s North-West. Authorities face mounting pressure to sustain these operations and prevent further kidnappings in the region.

The goal is to empower local communities to take a more active role in safeguarding students and ensuring education remains uninterrupted.
-
Focus on Vulnerable Infrastructure: Given that many public primary schools lack perimeter fencing, the government is launching “safe school initiatives.” These efforts encourage communities to identify local risks and push for necessary security measures to better protect both learners and teachers.
