“Pastor Paul Adefarasin Sparks Controversy: ‘Nigeria Was Not Created By God’”

Published

on

Pastor Paul Adefarasin, leader of House On The Rock Church, has ignited fresh controversy after asserting that Nigeria was not founded by divine design. He explained that the country’s creation primarily served British interests during the colonial era rather than those of its people.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

According to the pastor, Nigeria’s name did not originate locally but was reportedly given by the girlfriend of a British official when colonial administrators, including Lord Lugard, merged various regions into a single entity.

Adefarasin also challenged the widely held belief that Nigeria’s political pioneers—Obafemi Awolowo, Tafawa Balewa, Ahmadu Bello, and Nnamdi Azikiwe—were responsible for the nation’s formation. Instead, he traced its origins to decisions made in Whitehall, Britain.

“I don’t believe Nigeria was created by God. This nation was created for the business of the British purse so they wouldn’t have to bear the bill for the less prosperous parts of the region,” Adefarasin said during his sermon.

He further criticized Nigeria’s sluggish economic development, noting that the country should have become Africa’s industrial hub but has instead turned into a market dominated by imported goods. The pastor emphasized the urgent need to reform the education system, particularly by strengthening technical schools to produce skilled inventors and manufacturers.

Citing China as an example, he argued that Nigeria has the potential to become a global manufacturing powerhouse if fair and committed leadership focuses on rebuilding the nation. “We have people poorer than their labourers. Nigeria must rise to become the factory of the world. But it will take men of justice and equity who devote themselves to nation-building,” he stated.

They also maintained that the plaintiff lacked legal standing and that the leadership process in question followed due party procedures.
