“Quit Now Or Face The Heat: Okpebholo Sounds Final Warning To Edo Cultists”

Published

on

Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State has issued a stern warning to cultists and kidnappers, ordering them to leave the state immediately or face the full force of the law.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

According to Nivo News, this declaration came as the state government intensified its security crackdown, culminating in the demolition of a bungalow in Egbaen Community, Egor Local Government Area, allegedly used as a shrine and base for cult initiation and ritual practices. The operation, tagged Operation Flush Out Cultists and Kidnappers, was jointly carried out by the Edo State Special Security Squad, security agencies, and local stakeholders.

Coordinator of the Security Squad, Idemudia Noah, disclosed that the building was linked to Marvelous Adetarami, a suspected leader of the Maphite cult group. He said the premises, earlier sealed over allegations of cultism and ritual activities, were demolished after intelligence reports confirmed that clandestine meetings continued there under the cover of darkness. Residents of the area, who had lived in fear for months, expressed relief over the government’s decisive action.

Idemudia reiterated Governor Okpebholo’s resolve to make Edo State unsafe for criminal elements, emphasizing that there would be no hiding place for perpetrators of cultism, kidnapping, or other crimes.

In a related development, the state government unveiled a new education policy mandating that younger siblings use approved textbooks already purchased by their older siblings. The policy also restricts graduation ceremonies to students completing Basic 1–9 and Senior Secondary School 3, while discouraging elaborate prom-style events that officials say promote indecency.

Commissioner for Education Dr. Emmanuel Iyamu, in a statement, warned that textbooks with workspaces would be derecognized by the ministry. He reaffirmed that pupils must be at least 10 years old to sit for the Primary Six exams and that no pre-basic pupils are allowed to hold graduation ceremonies or parties.

The ministry further directed school administrators to comply strictly with the National and Edo State Policies on Education, the Education Law, and official circulars. It stressed that no school staff is permitted to sell books directly to parents or coerce them to buy from specific vendors.
