Drug Crackdown: Two Nigerians Held in India, Authorities Begin Deportation Process
Indian authorities have arrested two Nigerians in Tolichowki, a suburb of Hyderabad, over alleged visa violations and suspected links to drug-related activities.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
The suspects, identified as 29-year-old Aful Clement and 19-year-old Lazarus Favour, were picked up on Wednesday by operatives of the Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing (H‑NEW) and are now facing possible deportation.
According to Metro India, Clement initially entered the country on a business visa but was arrested in 2022 by Chandigarh police in a fraud case and served a six‑month jail term. After his release, he remained in Delhi without valid employment, despite his visa having expired since 2019.
Lazarus, on the other hand, came into India on a student visa to study science and technology but allegedly drifted into drug-related circles.
Investigators said the duo had recently relocated from Bengaluru to Hyderabad and were acting suspiciously within the Tolichowki police station area.
Although no drugs were found on them at the time of arrest, security agencies suspect they were involved in drug peddling. Their continued stay was described as a security risk, prompting H‑NEW to work with the Foreigners Regional Registration Office to begin deportation proceedings.

In his inaugural address, Aina acknowledged the foundation laid by his predecessor—who is widely credited with modernizing the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME)—and vowed to expand on those achievements. Emphasizing a strong stance against malpractice, he warned wrongdoers that their illicit activities have no place at JAMB, promising to ramp up modern technological investments and deepen partnerships with security agencies to safeguard the integrity of the admissions process.
