Edozien made the appeal on Saturday in a congratulatory message to Yilwatda, who emerged as the party’s National Chairman following the recent NEC meeting in Abuja.

“I congratulate Professor Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda on his assumption of office as National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress,” Edozien said.
“I am particularly delighted that this key position—so often coveted by career politicians—has been entrusted to a technocrat. As an academic myself, I am proud to see a colleague from our field take up the challenge of leading our party.”

The Delta APC stalwart expressed hope that Yilwatda would carry into his new role the values that underpin academic excellence:

“Success in academia comes with discipline, integrity, and creative thinking. Our country and our political parties are in dire need of these virtues to drive genuine progressive politics,” he said.
“Prof. Yilwatda, please bring these qualities with you; do not leave them behind in your former office, and do not allow mercantile politicians to dilute your commitment to these ideals.”

Edozien also cautioned that academics and technocrats who transition into political leadership often fall short of expectations.
