The Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, has announced the cancellation of this year’s Eid-el-Kabir Durbar, citing the need to preserve public order and ensure that the festivities are observed in a peaceful and safe atmosphere.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Emir Sanusi made the announcement during a late-night press briefing held on Thursday at the Kofar Kudu Palace. He explained that the decision followed consultations between the Kano Emirate Council and the state government.

According to the Emir, the move is aimed at safeguarding the well-being of the people and ensuring a calm and dignified celebration.

It was earlier gathered that the Emir had instructed all district heads within the Emirate to gather at the palace in anticipation of the annual Durbar procession. However, the Kano State Police Command had reiterated its standing ban on all Durbar-related processions across the state due to prevailing security concerns.

During the press conference, Emir Sanusi urged the public to participate actively in both the Eid prayers and Friday Jumu’ah prayers, noting the immense spiritual value in doing so.

He cautioned against relying on religious interpretations that suggest Friday prayers can be skipped if Eid prayers have been observed, warning that such views should not be used to neglect one’s religious obligations.

The Lagos State Government has called on property owners to upgrade and beautify their buildings in order to improve the state’s overall appearance.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

This appeal was made in a statement issued by the Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Oluyinka Olumide, and released through the ministry’s Director of Public Affairs, Mukaila Sanusi, on Tuesday in Lagos.

Olumide specifically urged owners of properties located along major highways to give their buildings the necessary facelift.

“We appeal to property owners, particularly those situated along key highways such as Ikorodu Road, Agege Motor Road, Ahmadu Bello Way, Adeola Odeku Street, Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway, and Herbert Macaulay Way, to take prompt action in enhancing the appearance of their building exteriors,” he said.

The commissioner explained that such efforts would align with the state’s mission to transform Lagos into a 21st-century economy.

He further advised property owners along major roads to consistently maintain and improve the exterior of their structures through repainting, façade upgrades, and general renovations — all in support of the government’s Greater Lagos vision

Ambition Over Party: Eradiri Blames Atiku for PDP’s Collapse Ahead of LG Polls”

Former Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) President, Udengs Eradiri, has called on 2023 PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, to abandon his 2027 presidential bid in the interest of national unity and political stability.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

In a statement released on Tuesday in Port Harcourt, Eradiri warned that Atiku’s continued pursuit of the presidency has inflicted significant damage on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), once viewed by many Nigerians as a viable alternative to the ruling party.

He urged Atiku to prioritise national interest, stressing that the former vice president’s unrelenting ambition has had particularly negative consequences for the Niger Delta.

Eradiri, who previously served as Bayelsa State Commissioner for Youths and later for Environment, claimed that Atiku’s political desperation before the 2023 elections pushed Delta State into severe debt. He alleged that former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa was pressured to finance Atiku’s campaign in return for being picked as his running mate.

He further argued that Atiku’s candidacy disrupted the power rotation agreement between the North and South, weakening the PDP’s credibility as a true opposition force.

Urging Atiku to adopt the posture of an elder statesman, Eradiri advised him to make way for younger, more regionally representative candidates in the 2027 race.

“I urge Alhaji Atiku Abubakar to show true statesmanship by stepping away from his presidential ambition,” Eradiri said. “This appeal is not based on politics, but on the undeniable harm his ambition has done—especially to the Niger Delta. After eight years of northern rule under President Muhammadu Buhari, it should have been the South’s turn, but that opportunity was seized.”

He continued, “The PDP lies in disarray today because of Atiku’s relentless quest. His ambition has fractured the opposition and introduced instability into the political landscape. A functional democracy requires a strong opposition, but Atiku’s personal goals have dealt a serious blow to the party many Nigerians once believed in.”

Crackdown in Lagos! NAFDAC Seals Shops, Arrests Six Over Banned Bleaching Creams

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has arrested six individuals and sealed multiple shops in Sabon Gari, Kano, over the illicit sale of skin-bleaching products.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Mr. Kasim Ibrahim, NAFDAC’s Kano State Coordinator, made this known at a press briefing on Tuesday. He revealed that the clampdown followed a wave of public complaints across social media platforms, prompting a directive from the agency’s Director-General.

“In response to social media reports and a directive from our Director-General, we launched undercover surveillance and conducted mystery shopping of the suspected products,” Ibrahim stated.

He said investigations revealed that six individuals were involved in the distribution and sale of harmful, unapproved bleaching creams marketed as spa treatments.

“These products were disguised as beauty treatments but contained hazardous and unregistered ingredients,” he explained.

The raid, carried out in conjunction with NAFDAC’s Investigation and Enforcement Directorate, led to the arrest of suspects, product profiling, sample collection for lab analysis, and the sealing of affected shops. Ibrahim also noted that companies found to be counterfeiting registered cosmetic products or breaching regulations were similarly shut down pending further investigation.

Reaffirming NAFDAC’s mandate to regulate the production and sale of cosmetics and related items, he warned of the public health dangers posed by the unregulated sale of such products.

“This decisive action is part of our commitment to preventing public health crises caused by toxic and unapproved substances,” Ibrahim said.

He urged the public to stay alert and report suspicious activities, stressing NAFDAC’s resolve—under the leadership of Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye—to enforce regulatory standards.

“If you see something, say something. This is how we can all help avert potential health emergencies,” he added.
