Drama in Lagos! Sanwo-Olu Missing as Tinubu Launches Major Port Road Project

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, was conspicuously absent on Thursday during the flag-off ceremony for the reconstruction of the Deep Seaport Access Road in the Epe-Ijebu Ode axis, led by President Bola Tinubu.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Despite the presence of several high-profile dignitaries, including Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum and Lagos State Deputy Governor Femi Hamzat, Sanwo-Olu failed to attend, even though his seat was clearly marked, according to a report by The Cable. Hamzat was instead seen seated behind the governor’s designated spot.
During his address, Tinubu directed his comments to Hamzat rather than Sanwo-Olu and issued a stern warning to state governors against granting unauthorized planning approvals on protected zones such as road setbacks and maritime corridors.
“Please, our dear governors, let’s work together. Don’t give planning approvals without coordinating with the surveyor-general of the federation and the Ministry of Works,” Tinubu said.
“I’m glad the Deputy Governor of Lagos State is here. Consider it official—we will revoke all approvals issued for developments on road setbacks and illegal islands. We’re serious about this. No more unauthorized approvals.”
The Lagos State Government has yet to release an official explanation for Sanwo-Olu’s absence.
This development comes just a week after another public incident where President Tinubu appeared to snub Sanwo-Olu during the inauguration of the first phase of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway. At that event, Tinubu shook hands with several dignitaries including former Senate President Ahmed Lawan, Governors Zulum, Douye Diri (Bayelsa), and Bassey Otu (Cross River). However, when he reached Sanwo-Olu, Tinubu bypassed him and extended a handshake instead to Kogi State Governor Ahmed Ododo, who stood next.
These incidents have fueled speculation of a rift between Tinubu and Sanwo-Olu, possibly linked to the recent failed attempt to impeach Lagos Assembly Speaker Mudashiru Obasa.

Ambition Over Party: Eradiri Blames Atiku for PDP’s Collapse Ahead of LG Polls”

Former Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) President, Udengs Eradiri, has called on 2023 PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, to abandon his 2027 presidential bid in the interest of national unity and political stability.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
In a statement released on Tuesday in Port Harcourt, Eradiri warned that Atiku’s continued pursuit of the presidency has inflicted significant damage on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), once viewed by many Nigerians as a viable alternative to the ruling party.
He urged Atiku to prioritise national interest, stressing that the former vice president’s unrelenting ambition has had particularly negative consequences for the Niger Delta.
Eradiri, who previously served as Bayelsa State Commissioner for Youths and later for Environment, claimed that Atiku’s political desperation before the 2023 elections pushed Delta State into severe debt. He alleged that former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa was pressured to finance Atiku’s campaign in return for being picked as his running mate.
He further argued that Atiku’s candidacy disrupted the power rotation agreement between the North and South, weakening the PDP’s credibility as a true opposition force.
Urging Atiku to adopt the posture of an elder statesman, Eradiri advised him to make way for younger, more regionally representative candidates in the 2027 race.
“I urge Alhaji Atiku Abubakar to show true statesmanship by stepping away from his presidential ambition,” Eradiri said. “This appeal is not based on politics, but on the undeniable harm his ambition has done—especially to the Niger Delta. After eight years of northern rule under President Muhammadu Buhari, it should have been the South’s turn, but that opportunity was seized.”
He continued, “The PDP lies in disarray today because of Atiku’s relentless quest. His ambition has fractured the opposition and introduced instability into the political landscape. A functional democracy requires a strong opposition, but Atiku’s personal goals have dealt a serious blow to the party many Nigerians once believed in.”

Crackdown in Lagos! NAFDAC Seals Shops, Arrests Six Over Banned Bleaching Creams

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has arrested six individuals and sealed multiple shops in Sabon Gari, Kano, over the illicit sale of skin-bleaching products.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Mr. Kasim Ibrahim, NAFDAC’s Kano State Coordinator, made this known at a press briefing on Tuesday. He revealed that the clampdown followed a wave of public complaints across social media platforms, prompting a directive from the agency’s Director-General.
“In response to social media reports and a directive from our Director-General, we launched undercover surveillance and conducted mystery shopping of the suspected products,” Ibrahim stated.
He said investigations revealed that six individuals were involved in the distribution and sale of harmful, unapproved bleaching creams marketed as spa treatments.
“These products were disguised as beauty treatments but contained hazardous and unregistered ingredients,” he explained.
The raid, carried out in conjunction with NAFDAC’s Investigation and Enforcement Directorate, led to the arrest of suspects, product profiling, sample collection for lab analysis, and the sealing of affected shops. Ibrahim also noted that companies found to be counterfeiting registered cosmetic products or breaching regulations were similarly shut down pending further investigation.
Reaffirming NAFDAC’s mandate to regulate the production and sale of cosmetics and related items, he warned of the public health dangers posed by the unregulated sale of such products.
“This decisive action is part of our commitment to preventing public health crises caused by toxic and unapproved substances,” Ibrahim said.
He urged the public to stay alert and report suspicious activities, stressing NAFDAC’s resolve—under the leadership of Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye—to enforce regulatory standards.
“If you see something, say something. This is how we can all help avert potential health emergencies,” he added.
