Wike Drops Bombshell: ‘No Cabal Controls Tinubu!’ – Minister Dispels Rumours of Power Hijack”

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has firmly stated that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is fully in charge of his administration, dispelling persistent claims of a cabal operating behind the scenes.
Speaking on Thursday during the 2025 OAU Distinguished Personality Lecture at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State, Wike praised Tinubu’s strong leadership, asserting that the President is steering the country with confidence and independence.
“This is a president who’s courageous and fully in control. There is no cabal under Tinubu,” Wike declared.
Taking a swipe at past administrations, the former Rivers State Governor criticized former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan for lacking the political will to implement tough but necessary economic reforms like fuel subsidy removal and exchange rate unification.
“If Tinubu hadn’t removed fuel subsidies, many would still be profiting from the fraud,” Wike added.
While acknowledging Nigeria’s history of underperformance since gaining independence, he expressed optimism about the country’s future, noting that with committed leadership and systems, Nigeria still has the potential to thrive.
“Despite our setbacks over the last six decades, Nigeria can still rise. We must commit to deliberate and inclusive nation-building,” he said.
Wike stressed that building a better nation will require vision, sacrifice, and hard work, urging citizens to prioritize legacy over lamentation.
“Let’s resolve to leave behind a nation filled with hope—not regrets—for the next generation,” he urged.
Responding to critics questioning his capacity as FCT Minister, Wike fired back, insisting that he is more than capable of delivering results.
“Anyone saying I lack capacity clearly has a problem,” he stated.
He also reiterated his tough stance on unpaid ground rent in the capital, making it clear that defaulting property owners must settle their dues.
“Those owing ground rent must pay. The heavens won’t fall,” he said defiantly.
