Registered voters from Igbo-Etiti/Uzo-Uwani Federal Constituency in Enugu State have initiated the process to recall their House of Representatives member, Martins Oke. The petition, dated March 27, 2025, was addressed to the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Reasons for Recall:

  1. Non-performance: Oke has allegedly not sponsored any significant bills or motions during his three terms.

  2. Lack of Visibility: Constituents claim he rarely participates in National Assembly sittings and has not initiated any constituency projects.

  3. Imposition and Election Dispute: Petitioners allege that Oke was imposed on the PDP against the party’s wishes and that he lost the general election but was declared the winner by the Appeal Court on technical grounds.

  4. Neglect of Constituency: No constituency office, no town hall meetings, and Oke is reportedly disconnected from the people.

The petitioners insist that the recall process follows constitutional requirements, with signatures from over 50% of registered voters in the constituency. The move comes amid a similar recall process against Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central Senatorial district.
