KADOBA Highlights Impact Of NYSC Camp On Education At Government College Kaduna, Urges Relocation

The Old Boys Association of Government College Kaduna (KADOBA) has called on Governor Uba Sani to stop using the school’s grounds as a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation camp, citing negative impacts on the students’ education.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
At a press conference marking the 20th anniversary of the Class of 2004, the group expressed concerns over the deteriorating condition of the school, citing a shortage of classrooms, space, and essential facilities. They attributed these issues to parts of the college being used for the NYSC and civil defence training camps.
Engr. AbdurRahman Musa, Chairman of KADOBA (Class of 2004), urged the governor to prioritize student education by relocating the NYSC camp. He acknowledged the original necessity of using the school for such purposes due to security concerns but noted that with the improved security situation under Governor Sani, it was time to return the camp to its permanent location along the Kaduna-Abuja road.
Musa praised Governor Sani for his efforts to improve security and appealed to his commitment to the education sector, lamenting that students were being deprived of proper learning facilities. Yusuf Muhammad, National President of KADOBA, highlighted the psychological toll on students and noted the sharp decline in enrollment at the school, with fewer than 300 students now attending, a stark contrast to its previous enrollment.
He further emphasized that the school’s facilities were being used for purposes unrelated to education, further contributing to the institution’s decline. Muhammad expressed hope that Governor Sani would take swift action to restore the school to its former prestige.
