Adams Oshiomhole, former governor of Edo State, has sarcastically thanked the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for “giving” Nyesom Wike to the Tinubu administration.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Oshiomhole, who also served as the former President of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), praised Wike for his developmental efforts and expressed gratitude to the PDP for allowing him to serve as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) under the APC government.

Wike, previously a staunch PDP member, supported APC’s Bola Tinubu during the 2023 presidential election after a fallout with his party. As a reward for his support, Wike was appointed FCT Minister.

Oshiomhole compared the situation to a football club letting its “best player” join a rival team. “Thank you, PDP, for giving us Nyesom Wike to help us fix Abuja,” he said. “When you give your best player to another club, you pay a heavy price.”

The lawmaker representing Edo North also joked about the PDP’s decision, saying they didn’t ask for a transfer fee and hinted that the APC might not want to return Wike, even joking about setting up a toll gate to prevent it.

At a New Year luncheon in Port Harcourt, Oshiomhole praised Wike for his contributions to Abuja, highlighting his commitment to the rule of law and environmental regulations.

According to Naija News, the university stated that the students were found guilty of various academic misconducts during the 2022/2023 academic session, as determined by the College of Medicine’s Mobile Students Disciplinary Committee.

The announcement, detailed in a bulletin co-signed by Deputy Registrar (Senate) F.O. Omoigui on behalf of the Acting Registrar, and Principal Assistant Registrar for Public Relations, Otunba Mike Ade Aladenika, confirmed that 21 students were rusticated for two semesters, while 13 others were suspended for four semesters.

Additionally, six students were exonerated, two received warnings to maintain proper conduct, and one was issued a formal caution.

The disciplinary actions primarily affected third and fifth-year students enrolled in departments such as Medicine and Surgery, Medical Microbiology, Physiology, Chemical Pathology, and others within the College of Medicine.

Investigations revealed that some students were caught with unauthorized materials during exams like HAE 503, including parts of answer booklets containing relevant responses. Others were involved in impersonation and additional forms of malpractice during the 401-level exams.

Tinubu, Shettima Win Praise as NAHCON Overcomes ATM BTA Controversy

Published

on

The Chairman of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), Professor Abdullahi Saleh Usman Pakistan, has publicly expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima for their decisive intervention in resolving the recent controversy over the issuance of Basic Travel Allowance (BTA) to intending pilgrims via Automated Teller Machine (ATM) cards.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

According to Professor Pakistan, the timely involvement of the Presidency led the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to reverse its earlier directive mandating ATM card issuance instead of cash for pilgrims, a move that had sparked widespread concerns.

While acknowledging the inevitability of global technological evolution, the NAHCON Chairman emphasized that such innovations must be integrated thoughtfully, in line with local culture and societal readiness. He stressed that progress must respect the realities on the ground, especially for predominantly rural and elderly pilgrims who are unfamiliar with modern banking systems.

He further pointed out the practical challenges with the ATM policy, highlighting the limited availability of machines in Makkah and Madinah — cities that annually host millions of pilgrims. In many of the areas where Nigerian pilgrims reside, he noted, it is rare to find even five functional ATMs.

Professor Pakistan underscored the need for proactive strategies by Hajj officials to prevent future public outcry and ensure the BTA system is both efficient and accessible. He also disclosed that, after the conclusion of this year’s pilgrimage, NAHCON will convene a stakeholders’ meeting under the guidance of Vice President Shettima to develop a long-term solution.
