Senate Ethics Committee Chairman Declares Sexual Harassment Case Involving Natasha “Closed”

Published

The Chairman of the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges, and Public Petitions, Neda Imaseun, has officially declared the sexual harassment case involving Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan as “closed” within the Senate. This announcement came after Natasha’s legal counsel, Abiola Akiode, accused Imaseun of bias in handling the matter.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Imaseun addressed the accusations and explained that the case had already been concluded at the Senate level, with no further action to be taken. He also pointed out procedural issues with the original petition filed by Akpoti-Uduaghan, noting that it lacked required details, such as an address, which violated the Senate’s rules.

Imaseun further stated that because the case is now before the courts, the Senate would refrain from further involvement, in line with their rule book, which prohibits the Senate from deliberating on matters already pending in court. He concluded by declaring the matter adjourned “sine die,” meaning there would be no further discussion or action at this time.

INEC Gives Crucial Update On Recall Process For Natasha Akpoti

Published

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has provided an important update regarding the attempt to recall Kogi Central Senator, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan. According to INEC, the recall petition submitted by some constituents is missing essential contact information for the petitioners, as required by the Electoral Act.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The petition, which includes signatures collected from over half of the 474,554 registered voters across multiple polling units in Kogi Central, lacks specific contact details such as addresses, phone numbers, and email addresses for the petitioners, except for the lead petitioner’s phone number. This omission violates Clause 1(f) of INEC’s Regulations and Guidelines for Recall.

INEC has stated that once the petition meets the necessary requirements, they will proceed with the verification of signatures in an open process, limited to registered voters who signed the petition. Both petitioners and Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan will be allowed to nominate agents to observe the verification process, which will use the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS).

The commission urged the public to disregard any misleading information circulating on social media about the recall process and reiterated that the process will be conducted in full compliance with the law.
