Kwankwaso Accused Of Betrayal As NNPP’s Tribunal Loss Attributed To Former Presidential Candidate....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

A prominent figure within the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in the South-West, Alhaji Abass Akande Onilewura, has attributed the loss of Kano governor, Yusuf Abba, in the State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal to a former presidential candidate of the NNPP, Rabiu Kwankwaso. Onilewura alleged that Kwankwaso betrayed the NNPP by aligning with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in pursuit of a ministerial position in President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

The Kano State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal, as reported by Ripples Nigeria, recently invalidated Abba’s victory and declared the APC candidate, Nasir Gawuna, as the winner of the March 18 governorship poll. The tribunal’s decision also entailed the withdrawal of the Certificate of Return previously presented to Yusuf by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), citing non-compliance with the 2022 electoral act.

Onilewura, in a statement issued on Thursday, contended that the NNPP’s electoral setback in Kano substantiated the allegations of anti-party conduct against Kwankwaso. He asserted that Kwankwaso’s purported involvement in anti-party activities significantly contributed to the party’s electoral loss as determined by the Kano Tribunal.

Onilewura further claimed that Kwankwaso disregarded due process when selecting certain gubernatorial candidates for the NNPP, resulting in the nomination of candidates who were unpopular or unacceptable to the electorate.

He stated, “This loss is a significant setback for NNPP, and it can be directly attributed to Kwankwaso’s self-serving actions, where he traded the party to the highest bidder. While awaiting the Certified True Copy of the tribunal’s judgment, it’s crucial to note that this outcome could have been prevented if Kwankwaso had adhered to due process and awarded the ticket to the most qualified candidate, rather than his inlaw.”

Onilewura also suggested that Kwankwaso’s prolonged engagement with the APC created opportunities for the opposition to exploit vulnerabilities that ultimately led to the defeat of Kano’s governor.

In conclusion, Onilewura expressed satisfaction that Kwankwaso had been expelled from NNPP and urged him to distance himself from the party. He reassured NNPP members that the party’s new leadership would work diligently to restore its prominence and serve as a robust voice for justice, equity, and good governance in the country.

“Battle For The Ticket!”: Jigawa ADC Aspirant Launches Scorched-Earth Campaign Against Primary Results!.

Published

on

Bashir Adamu, a former House of Representatives member and governorship aspirant for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Jigawa State, has formally challenged the results of the party’s recent primary election. In a petition submitted to the State Election Appeal Committee, Adamu alleged that the process, which resulted in the victory of Senator Sabo Muhammad Nakudu, was “flawed and undemocratic” due to significant irregularities, voter intimidation, and bias by party officials.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Adamu specifically accused the primary election committee of compromising its neutrality under pressure from the State Executive Committee. Furthermore, he cited deliberate delays in the distribution of election materials—particularly in the North-West Senatorial District—as a tactic that disenfranchised voters and allowed political thugs to hijack the process and fabricate results. He further noted that violence led to the cancellation of voting in four local government areas, rendering the election inconclusive. In response, Jigawa ADC State Chairman Muhammad Gumel has appealed for calm, urging Adamu to accept the results as the will of God and remain committed to party unity despite the competitive nature of the election.

Option 2: Concise/Punchy

  • The Challenge: Former lawmaker Bashir Adamu has rejected the Jigawa State ADC governorship primary outcome, petitioning the appeal committee for a total nullification and a fresh vote.

  • Allegations of Malpractice: Adamu claims that party officials were biased, that election materials were intentionally delayed to facilitate ballot snatching, and that violence invalidated voting in several areas.

  • Contested Victory: While Senator Sabo Muhammad Nakudu was declared the winner with 35,939 votes against Adamu’s 19,537, Adamu insists the results do not represent the true will of the party members.

  • Call for Unity: State Chairman Muhammad Gumel has called for peace, framing the conflict as a standard part of political competition and asking Adamu to respect the outcome.

Key Takeaways:

  • The Conflict: A major internal dispute has emerged within the Jigawa ADC following the declaration of Senator Sabo Muhammad Nakudu as the governorship candidate.

  • Primary Concerns: Allegations include the use of political thugs, compromised election committee leadership, and procedural violations of both party guidelines and the Electoral Act.
