Rephrased text: Nigeria has secured its allocation of 95,000 slots for the 2024 Hajj, maintaining the same number granted during the previous pilgrimage. The announcement came during a virtual meeting between the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah and the leadership of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON).

The meeting, which officially marked the commencement of preparations for the 2024 Hajj, was attended by notable figures, including Hon Jafar Mohammed, Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Hajj, Senator Abubakar Sani Bello, representatives of the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs, and Ambassador Bello Abdulkadir, the Nigerian Consul-General in Saudi Arabia.

In a press statement issued by Alhaji Mousa Ubandawaki, Deputy Director of Information and Publications at NAHCON, Nigeria is expected to finalize arrangements and negotiations with service providers, including catering, accommodation, and transportation, within the next 120 days.

Ubandawaki also mentioned that NAHCON would promptly submit lists of medical and other officials to Saudi authorities, as the Kingdom intends to work closely with these bodies. Additionally, the commission was urged to ensure that only air carriers with a minimum of two aircraft in their fleet, along with a backup, are appointed or allowed to participate in the 2024 Hajj operation.

Dr. Badr Mohammed Al-Somi, leading the Saudi team, emphasized the importance of adhering to the timeline to enable adequate planning and prevent issues experienced in previous Hajj seasons. He assured that the refund requested by NAHCON was being processed and would be acted upon as soon as the investigative committee’s results were available.

Alhaji Zikrullah Kunle Hassan, Chairman of NAHCON, urged Saudi authorities to expedite action on refunding the feeding and tent services not provided in the Mashair. He also called for the Kingdom to discontinue providing feeding services in the Masha’ir and allow Nigeria to manage Muna and Arafat, providing pilgrims with familiar cuisine. Furthermore, Hassan sought the support of the Saudi Ministry of Hajj in securing the refund paid to the General Authority of Saudi Aviation (GACA) on behalf of Nigerian carriers in 2019. He appealed to the ministry to reconsider the departure location for Nigerian pilgrims, proposing the King Abdul-Aziz International Airport in Jeddah instead of Medina to avoid logistical issues.

Olise’s Bayern Move Praised as “Career-Defining” by Micah Richards

Published

on

Former Manchester City defender Micah Richards has lauded Bayern Munich winger Michael Olise for turning down Chelsea in favor of a move to the German giants. According to reports, Richards described Olise’s decision as career-defining, noting that the 23-year-old has shown remarkable growth since joining Bayern in 2024.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

“He has taken his game to the next level,” Richards remarked.

Bayern Munich successfully secured Olise’s transfer ahead of Chelsea, who had shown strong interest in the French winger. Following the missed opportunity, Chelsea focused on strengthening their attack by signing Pedro Neto, Alejandro Garnacho, and Estevao.

Richards emphasized that Olise made a smarter career choice by choosing Bayern, suggesting that a move to Chelsea might have limited his playing time due to intense competition for attacking positions.

“What a move that was for him. At Chelsea, he might not have played as much as he would have liked,” Richards added, highlighting that the winger has immediately secured a key role in Bayern’s starting lineup — a notable achievement at a club of such high standards.

Since joining the Bundesliga champions, Olise’s performances have earned widespread acclaim, with many analysts recognizing him as one of Bayern Munich’s most influential players this season.

Authorities revealed that Azeez was apprehended at 6:30 a.m. on Thursday, November 6, 2025. He was found in the company of 43-year-old Abideen Kekere-Ekun at the laboratory located at 17 Vincent Eku Street, Ogombo, Lekki. NDLEA’s Directorate of Forensic and Chemical Monitoring dismantled the lab and seized 148.3 kilograms of illicit drugs and chemical precursors.

In related operations, NDLEA, in collaboration with customs and security agencies, uncovered 105.5 kilograms of Molly and 500 grams of methamphetamine at the Sifax bonded terminal in Okota, Lagos, on Friday, November 7.

Overwhelming Mandate: Soludo Secures Second Term, Hails Unprecedented Voter Support

Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, the re-elected Governor of Anambra State, has expressed profound gratitude to the people of the state, describing his renewed mandate as both a “victory” and a “historic moment” for Anambra.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

According to Nivo News, Soludo made the remarks in Awka on Sunday, shortly after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officially declared him the winner of the 2025 governorship election, securing a second term alongside his deputy, Dr. Onyeka Ibezim.

Speaking to supporters, the governor highlighted the overwhelming confidence the electorate has placed in his administration. He contrasted this year’s election with his first victory in 2021, noting that voter turnout has significantly increased since then.

He said, “Four years ago, you spoke and gave us your mandate. Anambra experimented with BVAS for the first time, and the turnout was extremely low. You elected us with 112,000 votes. This time, you have spoken loudly. About 22 percent of registered voters participated, breaking the 20 percent glass ceiling.”

Soludo further emphasized that his re-election places him among a select few governors in Anambra to have secured a second term since 1999. He noted that the scale of voter support in the 2025 election was unprecedented, with 73 percent of votes cast in his favor, surpassing previous records of 31 percent in 2010 and 56 percent in 2017.

“This is the strongest endorsement any governor has received in the history of Anambra,” he said, acknowledging the solidarity and support of the people.

The governor assured residents that his administration would accelerate development projects across the state, promising that the next four years would bring even greater progress. “We applied for this job. You employed us four years ago. What I can say, as we stated throughout the campaign, is that you have not seen anything yet. With this trust, in partnership with you, over the next four years we can say loudly that we ain’t seen nothing yet,” he stated.
