Nasarawa PDP Accuses APC Of Plotting To Disrupt Upcoming Governorship Tribunal Session....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

In Nasarawa State, the local chapter of the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has raised allegations against the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and government officials, claiming they are plotting to disrupt the proceedings scheduled for tomorrow (Thursday).

During a press briefing in the state capital, Lafia, the PDP’s State Chairman, Hon. Francis Orogu, disclosed these concerns. Orogu asserted that the intended disruption aims to generate unnecessary tension, giving the false impression that the state is not secure.

He revealed that their information indicates that the planners’ objective is to make it challenging for the tribunal to convene and hear the final arguments from both parties’ legal representatives.

Orogu, the Nasarawa PDP Chairman, stated, “We have become aware of a plot to create chaos with the intent of disrupting the governorship election petition tribunal’s proceedings in Lafia, the state capital. It is alleged that these plans are being hatched on a farm belonging to one of the government officials near Akwanga local government area.”

He urged law enforcement agencies, including the police and civil defense, to take necessary measures to prevent any disturbances on September 14, 2023, in Lafia. He advised those behind the alleged plot to refrain from their actions, emphasizing that Nasarawa State has enjoyed relative peace and should continue to do so.

Orogu also called on PDP members and supporters to stay vigilant and report any individuals planning to incite violence or disrupt the state’s peace to the authorities.

Responding swiftly to these allegations, Peter Ahemba, the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Abdullahi Sule on Public Affairs, dismissed the claims as false. He emphasized that the government of Engr. Sule prioritizes peace and adherence to the rule of law, asserting that no state government official would engage in such activities.

According to Ahemba, “Ironically, it is the PDP that has been disrupting tribunal proceedings and causing unwarranted tension by deploying paid agents to stage protests at the tribunal’s premises and other locations in the state.”

He called on the public to disregard the allegations made by the PDP.

A High Court in Maiduguri has sentenced an 18-year-old herdsman, Adamu Mohammed, to death for the killing of a fellow herdsman, 19-year-old Adamu Ali, during a clash in Auno, Konduga local government area of Borno State.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Justice Mohammed Maina ruled that the prosecution had established beyond reasonable doubt that Mohammed struck Ali on the head with a cutlass during an altercation in the bush on January 19, 2025. Ali subsequently died at the Borno State Specialist Hospital in Maiduguri.

Court records indicate that although Mohammed initially pleaded guilty, the plea was formally recorded as not guilty due to the capital nature of the offense. The prosecution presented two witnesses and submitted exhibits, including Mohammed’s own statements and a medical report, confirming that he attacked the deceased with a cutlass.

The defense claimed that Mohammed acted in self-defense, but the court dismissed the argument, citing inconsistencies in his testimony and a lack of evidence that he could not have retreated to avoid the fatal blow. Justice Maina described the force used as excessive and unjustified, noting that Mohammed’s actions met the criteria for culpable homicide punishable by death under Section 191(a) of the Borno State Penal Code Law, 2023. Mohammed was subsequently sentenced to death by hanging.
