Fake Commissioner Of Police And Impersonator Lawyer Arrested In Lagos....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

An elderly man named Emmanuel Nwagu was apprehended at the Lagos State Command after falsely claiming to be a Commissioner of Police. The suspect, dressed in a Commissioner of Police uniform and in possession of an identity card, visited the command to purportedly secure the release of a detained individual.

Nwagu was paraded alongside other suspects by the command’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Benjamin Hundeyin, who disclosed that the incident occurred on September 2 at approximately 4:40 p.m. During the visit, the suspect introduced himself as a Commissioner of Police, which led the officers at the command to initially regard him as such. However, upon further questioning, it became evident that he was an impersonator.

Upon his arrest, a search of Nwagu’s residence uncovered a Deputy Commissioner of Police warrant card, an Assistant Commissioner of Police warrant card, a Kenwood walkie-talkie, a police camouflage singlet, and a fez cap. Investigations have revealed that he had been engaging in such impersonation for an extended period, leaving uncertainty about how many individuals he may have deceived with his fake identity.

Hundeyin stated, “We are happy that he has been arrested. He would be arraigned in court soon.” The command has apprehended twelve suspects in total, including the individual posing as a Commissioner of Police. Cases involving impersonation, defilement, robbery, and drug dealing have been addressed, with various firearms seized.

In a separate incident, one Ibrahim Bello was also arrested for posing as a lawyer at the Epe High/Magistrate Court for several years. His apprehension followed a complaint from the Nigeria Bar Association, Epe Branch, against the imposter.

Detectives from the command arrested the suspect, who had been fully dressed as a lawyer in court. He was brought in for questioning and was subsequently identified as an impersonator. Among the items recovered from the suspect were law books, legal gowns, and other related materials.

Hundeyin remarked, “The fake Lawyer was arrested in court in a robe, presenting himself as a lawyer in the community before he was eventually arrested.”

Both the fake Commissioner of Police and the impersonator lawyer provided explanations for their actions during interviews with journalists. Nwagu admitted that he is not a policeman and disclosed that the Commissioner of Police’s identity card was given to him by Rapid Response Squad (RRS) operatives who provided security at the hotel where he worked.

“I have not used the CP identity card before anywhere else, except when the vehicle inspection officer impounded my car. Then I told them I was a retired CP, yet I was taken to their office and my vehicle was booked,” Nwagu stated, expressing regret for his actions.

The investigation into these impersonation cases continues.

Okpala accused Galadima of lacking political credibility and highlighted his inconsistent career, referencing Galadima’s failed attempts with the Buhari Organization, which failed to secure electoral victories. He also pointed out that Ganduje’s political record, particularly his two terms as the Governor of Kano State, speaks for itself, with ongoing projects and a deep connection to the people.

Okpala dismissed Galadima’s political relevance, stressing that the internal struggles within the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) reflected poorly on him. In contrast, he emphasized that Ganduje’s leadership has maintained stability and influence within the APC.

The report also noted that 118 new private mineral buying centers were registered within the same period, signifying increasing investor interest and participation in the sector.

In Q1 2025, the Mining Cadastral Office (MCO) received 955 applications for mining titles. These included 651 applications for exploration licenses, 270 for small-scale mining, 49 for quarrying, and 24 for reconnaissance permits. He further disclosed progress on the creation of the Nigerian Solid Minerals Corporation, a new government-backed entity that aims to elevate Nigeria’s mining industry onto the global stage. This initiative is being developed in partnership with the Ministry of Finance Incorporated (MOFI) and is expected to open investment opportunities for ordinary Nigerians through a public offering.

Highlighting international collaborations, Alake noted that the French government has committed to equipping the laboratory of the Nigerian Geological Survey Agency (NGSA) and training young Nigerian geologists. Western Australia has also approved a training program for Nigerian mining professionals, while investments from the UK, Saudi Arabia, and South Africa continue to expand the mineral value chain.

Additionally, Nigeria has assumed leadership of the newly-formed African Minerals Strategy Group (AMSG), which seeks to promote local beneficiation across the continent and reduce the export of unprocessed minerals.

Alake concluded by affirming the government’s dedication to policies that add value to the mining sector and make Nigeria a key player in Africa’s mineral development agenda.
