One of the intriguing strategies utilized by Boko Haram and its faction, ISWAP (Islamic State West Africa Province), to avoid detection within the Sambisa forest has ignited discussions on the internet.
Photographs shared by Zagazola Makama, a well-known counter-insurgency expert and security analyst around Lake Chad, reveal the meticulous approach adopted by Boko Haram. They carefully attach natural materials like grasses and branches to the exteriors of their vehicles.
This technique imitates the appearance of the surrounding vegetation, effectively making their vehicles nearly invisible when viewed from above.

Themed “Islam and Muslims: Responsibilities and Relevance in a Pluralistic World,” the conference, tagged Gateway 2025, sought to highlight the importance of Islamic engagement in today’s diverse global society.
Tinubu applauded the leadership of the Ansar-Ud-Deen Society, particularly its President, Alhaji Abdul-Rafiu Sanni, and members of the National Executive Council, for their unwavering commitment to the Society’s founding ideals. He recalled with pride the longstanding relationship between his lineage and the organisation.

Addressing the relevance of the conference’s theme, Tinubu stressed the importance of constructive societal engagement while upholding Islamic principles. He encouraged the gathering to develop bold, practical solutions to challenges ranging from youth empowerment to economic inclusion and moral leadership.
He reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to building an inclusive and prosperous Nigeria under the Renewed Hope Agenda, focusing on economic recovery, poverty alleviation, and the restoration of public trust.
Tinubu emphasized the need for partnerships with credible, value-driven institutions like Ansar-Ud-Deen to achieve national goals. He expressed gratitude for the Society’s consistent prayers and counsel, urging them to continue their efforts as advocates for unity and national progress.
Earlier, Alhaji Abdul-Rafiu Sanni described the conference as an opportunity to reflect on past successes, address present challenges, and map out future strategies centered on education, moral development, and national unity.
In his goodwill message, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, Secretary-General of the National Council of Islamic Affairs and Registrar of JAMB, urged the Society to remain committed to its educational values and dynamic traditions that have distinguished it over the years.
