Former Ogun State First Lady, Olufunke Daniel, Accuses Governor Dapo Abiodun Of Executive Recklessness In Demolition Of Her Plaza....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Olufunke Daniel, the wife of former Ogun State Governor Senator Gbenga Daniel, has expressed her strong disapproval of the demolition of her complex in Ijebu-Ode by the government of Governor Dapo Abiodun.

The Ogun State Government took the decision to demolish the five-story DATKEM plaza in Ijebu-Ode, which is owned by Mrs. Funke Daniel, the wife of the former Governor and current Senator representing Ogun East, Gbenga Daniel.

However, Mrs. Olufunke Daniel, through her lawyer, Adeyinka Kotoye, S.A.N of PAGE Law Office, issued a statement condemning Governor Dapo Abiodun’s actions, describing them as an example of executive recklessness. She claimed that the government disregarded court documents that had been served on its agents on Thursday, September 7, instructing them to halt all actions related to the building.

According to the statement, the Ogun State Planning and Development Authority had inspected the building on August 1 without any prior notice. On August 2, the management of the complex had applied for the unsealing and regularization of the building, duly paying the required fee of N500,000 to the state government. She emphasized that there is concrete evidence of this payment, and they were astonished that the state government ignored the legal process and proceeded to demolish the complex in the early hours of the day.

In her statement, Olufunke Daniel remarked, “I want to believe that the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, was not informed of this illegality. But if he was informed and still decided to use the instruments of the State against our clients, it is nothing but executive recklessness. But we will continue to fight for justice and ensure that our clients receive it.”

She continued, “This matter began when the Ogun State Planning and Development Authority scaled the building on August 1 without any prior notice. Interestingly, a quit notice was only served on August 31 by the same Planning and Development Authority asking the owner to vacate the premises within three days. Meanwhile, Datkem applied for unsealing and regularization of the building on August 2 and paid the mandatory fee of N500, 000 to the Ogun State government. We have evidence of this payment. However, we were shocked and astonished that the Ogun State government ignored the ongoing legal process and went ahead to demolish the complex in the early hours of Sunday. We want to believe the State Attorney General’s advice was ignored on this matter. Our clients, as law-abiding citizens of Ogun State, will continue to seek redress in the courts. Even when our clients have suffered unimaginable and huge losses as a result of this illegal demolition, we will not relent in pursuing justice in the courts.”

reports that the party made its position known during an emergency press conference in Ilorin on Friday, describing the development as politically motivated and unjust.

He alleged that the move was targeted at dragging Saraki into a case in which, according to him, legal authorities had previously found no evidence linking him to the incident.

Adewara referenced earlier legal opinions from the Office of the Attorney General of the Federation, which reportedly stated that Saraki was not connected to the robbery case.

The party insisted that suspects in the case had already been prosecuted and convicted, with judgments upheld at appellate levels, while the matter is currently before the Supreme Court.

The party further appealed to residents, especially families of victims in Offa, not to allow their pain to be used for political purposes.

He said: “I will be running for governor in the 2027 governorship election. I have come to plead with you to set up a small committee… to determine how we can collaborate to make this happen.”

He also questioned whether Ogun State would experience a “coronation” or a competitive election process, urging stakeholders to allow open political contest.

The PDP chieftain noted that Ogun West’s long-standing exclusion from producing a governor is a legitimate grievance, but stressed that aspirations must still be tested through competition.
