Two Arrested By DSS Over Kogi Explosion .

The culprits in an explosion at the palace of Ohinoyi of Ebiraland in Kogi State were apprehended recently by the Department of State Security Services.

The explosion occurred on December 29, 2022, only minutes before the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd. ), was about to inaugurate certain state projects.

The blast was alleged to have killed at least four persons.

According to a statement issued on Wednesday by the Public Relations Officer, DSS National Headquarters, Peter Afunanya, the service detained Abdulmumin Otaru aka Abu Mikdad and one of his friends, Saidu Suleiman, on Tuesday.
He stated that Otaru was wounded in the left foot while attempting to flee and that he is being treated at an unidentified medical institution.

“The Department of State Services wishes to inform the public that it has arrested the mastermind of the Vehicle-Borne Improvised Explosive Device attack that occurred on December 29, 2022, near the Palace of the Ohinoyi of Ebiraland in Okene, Kogi State during the President’s visit to inaugurate some projects,” the statement said.

“On January 3, 2023, the service apprehended Abdulmumin Otaru (aka Abu Mikdad) and one of his friends, Saidu Suleiman. While attempting to flee, Otaru received a gunshot wound to his left foot. He is currently being treated in a medical facility.”
Afunanya said an investigation conducted by the service revealed that Otaru is an ISWAP commander and had a link with previous attacks.
