Carlo Ancelotti To Open Talks With Brazil Over National Team Job

Published

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti is poised to begin discussions with the Brazilian Football Federation (CBF) regarding a potential move to coach Brazil’s national team ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers slated for June.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The 65-year-old Italian tactician is expected to meet with CBF officials soon, as both parties look to finalize an agreement for his transition to international management.

Following Real Madrid’s 2-1 loss to fierce rivals Barcelona in the Copa del Rey final in Seville on Saturday, Ancelotti addressed the media, saying that decisions about his future would be discussed “in the coming weeks, not today.”

Adding to the speculation, Brazilian businessman Diego Fernandes, who is serving as an intermediary for the CBF, was spotted in Seville during the final, underscoring Brazil’s strong interest in securing Ancelotti’s services.

It is understood that Fernandes’ current trip to Europe is primarily aimed at persuading Ancelotti to accept the national team role, likely after the conclusion of the Spanish domestic season.

If Ancelotti agrees to lead Brazil, he would have to leave Real Madrid before the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup, scheduled to be held in the United States this summer.

Ancelotti has emerged as the CBF’s top candidate to replace Dorival Junior, who was sacked following Brazil’s 4-1 defeat to Argentina in Buenos Aires last month.

Currently sitting fourth in the South American World Cup qualification standings, Brazil remains on course for a place at the expanded 48-team tournament. However, CBF officials believe Ancelotti’s leadership could significantly boost Brazil’s chances of lifting the World Cup trophy.

Notably, the CBF had previously made an unsuccessful attempt to hire Ancelotti for last year’s Copa America tournament.
